Our team at SiDEX recently completed a project involving a tub to shower conversion in Beloit, WI, for a client in need. The Thompson family attempted to do a full remodel with a tub to shower conversion on their own. After attempting to do it on their own, the Thompson family decided to have Sidex come in for the rescue as they wanted this tub to shower conversion done within their set timeframe. Our team came into the clients home and got to work, the job went smoothly as most of the demo was already done before we put our magic on it as this job is considered custom and more in depth with it being a full remodel. Process of The Tub To Shower Conversion in Beloit, WI:
- Demolition: The first step is the demo out all of the 3/4 tiles and cement walls as well as the tub and soffit on top. Once that is done we demo out the cast iron tub.
- Adjusting the plumbing: Convert the plumbing to 2″ for the new shower and adjust it to the new spot for the new shower pan. Move the valve up to accommodate for a shower versus a tub.
- Install the new shower pan: Make sure the floor is secure with new plywood and is leveled before installing the new pan. Secure the pan to the studs and the floor.
- Install new acrylic walls: Apply adhesive in the back of each panel. Start with the first panel, positioning it carefully against the wall. Press the panel firmly into place to ensure the adhesive bonds well. Repeat the process for the remaining acrylic panels, including the ceiling panel applying adhesive and positioning each panel carefully. Ensure that the edges of each panel fit snugly together.
- Fixtures and accessory installation: Trim kit, shelves, grab bars, handhelds, and shower doors. Each job is different as each customer has different needs and wants for their shower.
- Sealing and finish touches: Once all the panels are in place, apply silicone around the edges of the acrylic walls where they meet the floor, ceiling, and any other surfaces. This will create a waterproof seal to prevent leaks.
